My heart is filled with joy to announce that my new album is finally ready to share with all of you!
In April of 2011 I scraped together enough money to get into a recording studio and make some demo recordings of a few songs. Less than a month later I decided to move back to my home town of Olympia, Washington and continue making home recordings.
In 2012 I decided to pick up a job doing drywall for a construction company so that I could afford to continue to make studio recordings. Later that year after sneaking backstage and playing some songs for Michael Franti after a show I was invited to his home studio to create more music with him.
During these sessions we recorded “Cool Kids” and “Crazy Tonight.”
In May of 2013 I was signed by a major record label, however, due to creative differences the label and I parted ways in early 2014. Together with my management team we decided to make the record on our own.
After several discussions we set up a meeting with one of my favorite producers, Mario Caldato Jr. who agreed to produce the record.
For three weeks in May of 2014 Mario and I teamed up with some great musicians in his Los Angeles studio. The final product of those sessions was this record, Misunderstood, which my good friends Slightly Stoopid will be releasing on their label, Stoopid Records.
Many hours, many joys and many tears went into creating this. I hope that Misunderstood will touch your life as much as the experiences that inspired it touched mine.Ethan Tucker
